The King's Coast
This was my first helicopter ride and my introduction into aerial photography. I'd have to say that there couldn't have been a better place than Kauai to begin at.
Tears of the Clouds
There are so many remote waterfalls in Kauai that I ended up losing count. Many of these falls are also extremely high in their drops. This one forms high up in the mountain as you can see the cloud passing through where it begins its descent to the floor below.
Water from the Gods
When you see a 100 ft waterfall from the seat of a helicopter, it looks nothing more than a bump in the stream; when you see water fall from 3000 ft, you know you're witnessing something truly spectacular.
Experiencing a rain storm in a helicopter was something I've never felt before. The views were simply amazing and the tiny pellets of water hitting my skin at 120 mph left me with quite a sting.
Layers of Three
The levels of this spot always impresses me. The waterfalls start very high up in the mountains and have torn out a large chunk of the cliff side over time. This is geology at it's finest.
Face in the Rock
Another example of just how textured the Kauai coastline is can be seen in this one right here. If you look long enough you'll start to see a face coming out of the rock.
You may recognize this waterfall from a certain movie. Just might look a touch smaller than you remember.
The amount of rain the falls on Kauai ranks as one of the tops in the world. The waterfalls that are a byproduct of all that rain creates the essence of this amazing island.
It's a place where I could see the Hawaiian Gods taking a moment to just sit down and watch what the rest of the world is doing.
Valley of the King
Following this canyon out to the ocean gives you a real perspective on just how powerful water can be and even more perspective on just how creative lava can be.
The Royal Throne
The sharp edges that form the Na'pali coastline give it an almost regal tone. The points very much resemble the top of a crown to me.
